KEYSTONE at the RTR 2025: Strengthening Transport Innovation Through EU Partnerships

The KEYSTONE project participated in the RTR Conference held in Brussels, Belgium, from 11 to 13 February 2025.

On 12 February 2025, KEYSTONE participated in the Session “Sustainable and Resilient Freight Transport and Long-Haul Logistics”, represented by Professor Mauro Dell’Amico from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE), project coordinator of the KEYSTONE project. The panel featured interesting discussion from fellow EU-funded projects, including: SETO, the sister project of KEYSTONE, SARIL, ReMuNet, and TRACE. The panel was moderated by Paola Chiarini from the Directorate General for Mobility and Transport(DG MOVE) of the European Commission and Isabelle Schnell from Volvo Group.

Prof Dell’Amico introduced KEYSTONE’s goals and outlined ongoing activities, including refining the web app design and preparing for two pilot tests planned for June and November 2025.

From Needs to Solutions: Co-Designing the KEYSTONE Web App Through Collaborative Workshop

Cefriel hosted a co-design workshop to shape the overall user experience of the app.

Cefriel, KEYSTONE partner responsible for the app’s user interface, organised and moderated a co-design workshop on 26 October 2024.
The main goal was to identify user needs, define key features and APIs, and enhance the app’s experience.

The workshop marked the beginning of the User Experience (UX) phase, during which the collected needs were analysed and categorised. This was followed by the User Interface (UI) phase, which focused on creating a pixel-perfect design aligned with KEYSTONE’s branding guidelines

KEYSTONE to Share Innovations in Transport and Logistics at Key Conferences

Over the next three months, the KEYSTONE project will take part in four major transport and mobility events across Europe.

On 27 May 2025, Preetha Ramiah (Coventry University) will participate in  the Transport Research Symposium 2025 in Rotterdam (The Netherlands), where she will present the paper “Transforming European Logistics with a Unified API Model” at Poster Session 2, focusing on digital interoperability challenges in logistics.

KEYSTONE has released two new videos showcasing the two pilot test phases of its web application.

KEYSTONE Pilots in Action: Two New Videos Released

The first video focuses on the Road Transport Digital Ecosystem use case, featuring logistics and transportation company GRUBER Logistics, and demonstrates how the KEYSTONE web app supports enhanced road freight operations. The second video highlights the Intermodal Digital Ecosystem use case, featuring freight terminal operator CIM – Interporto di Novara, and shows how the solution is applied in an intermodal transport context. Both videos were produced by project partner, Cefriel.
